<div itemprop="description">It is with heavy hearts that the family of Albert Charles Stanley age 88 of Maccan announce his sudden passing at home on Sunday, May 29, 2016. <br> <br>Born in Maccan, he was a son of the late William and Lily (MacDonald) Stanley. <br> <br>In his younger years, Albert worked at Halifax Shipyard and then at Canada Car in Amherst. He retired from Sifto Salt after 42 years of service, he was known as the “Grand Daddy” of the pans. <br> <br>Albert was an avid sports competitor in baseball and hockey and played on the slow pitch team until he was 60 years old. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting. <br> <br>He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. <br> <br>He will be sadly missed by his wife of 70 years, Jean (Arseneau) Stanley and his children Richard (Dorothy) of Amherst, Glenn (Sherry) of Maccan, Randy (Cari-Ann) of Sackville, NB, Nadine (Steve) Gilbert of Nappan, Annie (Michael) Smith of Tidnish and Melinda (Robert) Berry of Brookdale, 17 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. <br> <br>Besides his parents, Albert was predeceased by 3 brothers, John, Lorne and Cecil, 3 sisters Selina (Sally) Joudry, Kathleen (Aunt Kaye) Brown and Avis Hurley, 2 granddaughters Holly Anne Gilbert and Sandra “Sam” Gilbert (Brine) and 1 grandson Joseph Paul Stanley in infancy. <br> <br>Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6 – 9 p.m. in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-9906). <br> <br>Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 10 am at First Baptist Church, Amherst. <br> <br>Family flowers only. <br> <br>Memorial donations in Albert’s memory may be made to the Kidney Foundation of Canada or the Canadian Diabetic Association. <br> <br>Interment will take place in the Fenwick Cemetery. <br> <br>Online condolences and sharing of memories may be made to the family via: www.campbellsamherst.ca or by visiting Campbell’s Facebook page. <br> <br> <br> <br></div>
