<div itemprop="description">Bessie Ruth (Carty) Nelson &ndash; 89, passed away peacefully at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst on Wednesday, 23 Dec. 2015. She was born 3 July 1926 in Amherst Head, daughter of the late Robie Mason and Jessie Aurlee (Mills) Carty.<br />She first worked at the Albion, then Adam&rsquo;s Grocery Store and finally Dunlap Bros. Hardware till her retirement.<br />She was a Past Grand Chief in the Pythian Sisters, and belonged for over 50 years and held many offices. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for many years.<br />She had a special talent for quilting and made many beautiful quilts, a talent which ran in her family. She was a very caring person and a wonderful wife, mother, sister and friend to many and will be sadly missed by family and friends alike.<br />Bessie leaves behind to mourn her loving husband Bert to whom she was married 70 years, daughter Linda (Gary) Bowser, grandson Malcolm (Tammy) Bowser, Fredericton, great-grandson Kyle (Nicole) Bowser, and great-great grandson Liam of Saint John. She is survived by one sister Ivy Greeno and many nieces and nephews.<br />Besides her parents, Bessie was predeceased by sisters Daphne Embree and Marguerite MacDonald; brothers Neil and Oscar Carty and Kenneth in infancy; and half-sister Audrey (Mountan/Milbury) Pajor.<br />A thank you to the emergency staff and all the Dr.&rsquo;s &amp; Nurses who attended to her care and also her family. A special thanks to Dr. Brian Ferguson. <br />There will be no funeral or visitation and cremation will take place under the direction of Campbell&rsquo;s Funeral Home, as per her wishes.<br />Donations may be made to Heart &amp; Stroke or any charity of your choice.<br />Online condolences and sharing of memories may be made to the family via: www.campbellsamherst.ca or by visiting Campbell&rsquo;s Facebook page.<br /></div>
