<div itemprop="description">It is with great sadness that the family of Carl Donald Porter age 84, of Amherst announce his passing on November 4, 2014 at Gables Lodge, Amherst, NS. <br /> <br />Born in Hastings, NS, he was a son of the late Frank and Thressa (McCallum) Porter. <br /> <br />In his younger years, Carl worked for Robb Engineers in Amherst and later worked as a crane operator and later purchased the business. <br /> <br />For many years he owned and operated Porter&rsquo;s Septic Service retiring in 1995. <br /> <br />Carl is survived by granddaughter Katelyn Porter of Truro and grandsons Marc (Emily) Porter of Fort St. John, BC and Kolbie MacMillian of Ontario, one sister Betty Tracey of Sackville, NB and several nieces and nephews. <br /> <br />Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife the former Audrey Eaton, a son Michael and daughter Karen MacMillian, brothers Claude, Oliver and Earl and sisters Hazel MacDonald, Marjorie Gaudet, Frances Sweet, Jean Topham, Evelyn Loughery and Beryl in infancy. <br /> <br />There will be no visitation or funeral service. <br /> <br />A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 10, 2014 at 2 p.m. in the Warren Cemetery with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating. <br /> <br />Memorial donations in Carl&rsquo;s memory may be made to the charity of your choice. <br /> <br />Arrangements are entrusted to Campbell&rsquo;s Funeral Home, Amherst, NS. <br /> <br />Online condolences and sharing of memories may be made to the family via: www.campbellsamherst.ca or by visiting our Facebook page. <br /> <br /></div>
