<div itemprop="description">David “Buddy” Lawrence Bland age 89 of Amherst passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017 at the Gables Lodge in Amherst surrounded by his loving family. <br> <br>Born in Amherst, he was the son of the late G. Lawrence and Pearl (Burgess) Bland. <br> <br>Buddy was employed by Robb Engineering for 43 years and retiring in 1987 as Chief Draftsman. He was a member of the United Church of Canada. Buddy enjoyed gardening, wood working, bicycling and travelling. He volunteered at Amherst Food Bank and Meals on Wheels program. <br> <br>He will be lovingly remembered by his children, David G., Susan (Brian) Atkins and Carolyn (Bob) Doucet all of Moncton, NB; sisters in-law, Jeannie and Muriel both of Parrsboro; brother in-law, Charlie (Barbara) Trask, Parrsboro; as well as many beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family. <br> <br>Our father will be remembered for his undying love and devotion to our mother. They are reunited once again. <br> <br>In addition to his parents, Buddy was predeceased by his loving wife Margaret, brother Donald and sister Mildred. <br> <br>A funeral service will be celebrated on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. from Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (902) 667-9906 with K. Ruth Gamble, DLM presiding. Reception to follow in the funeral home. Interment will take place at a later date in the Amherst Cemetery. <br> <br>A special thank you to all the staff of Gables Lodge for the loving care and compassion shown to our Dad throughout the last several weeks and you will be remembered in our hearts forever. <br> <br>In lieu of floral tributes, memorial contributions in Buddy’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice. <br> <br>On line condolences and sharing of memories may be forwarded via: www.campbellsamherst.ca or by visiting our Facebook page. <br> <br> <br> <br></div>
