<div itemprop="description">It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of David Thomas Smith, age 57 of East Amherst, on Sunday, October 23, 2016 at his home. <br> <br>David was born in Amherst and was the son of Douglas Benjamin Smith and the late Margaret Ellen (Landry) Smith. <br> <br>David was employed with Costins Paving for several years. <br> <br>He especially enjoyed hunting at his camp in Lynn Mountain, fishing in Five Islands, and coaching and playing baseball. <br> <br>He was an avid Maple Leaf’s fan and was proud of his large memorabilia collection and had a great love for his dogs. <br> <br>David was always ready to lend a hand to anyone and especially cherished his time spent with his family and friends. <br> <br>Besides his dad, Doug, David will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Carla Stewart; children, Benjamin (Jenn), Pugwash, and Melissa (Steven) Estabrooks, Leigh-Anne (Darren) Stewart and Samantha Stewart all of Amherst; five grandchildren, Danielle, Avery, Keira, Kadance, and Bridgit; two, brothers, Stephen and Todd both of Amherst; four sisters, Deborah (Chuck) Goodwin, Amherst, Wendy (Chris Downey) Smith, Calgary, AB, Sharon (John) Boucher, Stellarton, NS and Tracy (Jeremy) Smith, Cape Tormentine, NB; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. <br> <br>Cremation has taken place. <br> <br>A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating from Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (902) 667-9906, with a reception to follow at David’s home in East Amherst. <br> <br>In lieu of floral tributes, memorial contributions in David’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice. <br> <br>Online condolences and sharing of memories may be forwarded via: www.campbellsamherst.ca or by visiting our Facebook page. <br> <br></div>
