<div itemprop="description">It is with deep sadness that the family of Douglas Glenn Turner age 76 of Amherst announce his passing on Monday, January 11, 2016 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan, NS.<br /><br />Born in Amherst, he was a son of the late Gerald and Lillian (Jackson) Turner.<br /><br />In his younger years Doug worked for Coates Dairy in Amherst and later at Bendex where he was employed for many years. He enjoyed hockey and played for the local Sandhill Flyers team.<br /><br />Doug is survived by five children, Janice Legere of Warren, Vicky Lynn Chapman and Krista Jollota both of Amherst, Stephen Turner of Edmonton, AB and Lisa Turner of Baie Verte, NB, 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, brother Roderick of Ontario, sisters Beverley West of Truro and Kimberley Helm of Fort Saskatchewan, AB, several nieces and nephews and a very special friend Audrey Reid and her family.<br /><br />Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Gerald, Kenney and Michael Frank in infancy, sister Linda and son in law Kevin Legere.<br /><br />A special thank you to Dr. Brian Ferguson, Dr. Tim Wallace, the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre ICU, Medical Unit and Respiratory Therapy Staff and any other health care professionals who were involved in Doug&rsquo;s care. <br /><br />At Doug&rsquo;s request there will be no visitation or funeral service.<br /><br />A graveside service will be held at a later date in the Lorneville Cemetery.<br /><br />Arrangements have been entrusted to Campbell&rsquo;s Funeral Home, Amherst, NS.
