<div itemprop="description">It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Gordon Rensford Ollerton of Amherst NS. For the past two years he resided at Bayview Nursing Home in Advocate and quickly won the hearts of the wonderful caring staff who affectionately called him Blue Eyes. Gordon was 92 years old and would often remark &ldquo;I&rsquo;ve had a good life&rdquo;.<br /><br />Gordon worked many jobs in his lifetime&hellip; Imperial Oil, Fort B Flowers (where he met his wife Nora), operated a siding business, however was best known as the manager of the Amherst Paramount Theater and Grand View Drive-In until his retirement. Many said that he should have been in the movies instead of showing them. <br /><br />Gordon enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a jack of all trades. A Good Samaritan by nature, he was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need. He had a great love for children and animals. <br /><br />Gordon was the last surviving member of his immediate family predeceased by his wife Nora LeBlanc, parents Alice and Frank Ollerton, siblings James, George, Jack, Frank, Pauline, Doris and Cora.<br /><br />Gordon was a lifelong friend, father figure and will be sadly missed by those who loved him dearly including Eileen (Paul) Hopper and son Bradley, Isabel Dwyer, Barry (Gloria) Dwyer, Steven (Mary Lou) Dwyer, Vicky McLeod, Albert (Karen) Dwyer, Lisa (Randy) Gould, Raymond (Bonnie) St Peter and Kathleen Simms.<br /><br />Visitation will be held on Monday, March 23, 2015 from 7 -9 p.m. in Campbell&rsquo;s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, NS. (902-667-9906)<br /><br />Funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Campbell&rsquo;s Chapel with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating.<br /><br />Interment will take place at a later date in the St. Charles- Nativity Cemetery, Amherst. <br /><br />Donations in Gordon&rsquo;s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.<br /><br />Online condolences and sharing of memories may be made to the family via: www.campbellsamherst.ca or by visiting our Facebook page.<br /><br /></div>
