Hester Gertrude Allen, age 93 of Amherst, originally Sackville and Bayside, N.B. passed away on January 12th, 2015 with family at her side, at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.
Born in Point de Bute, N.B. she was a daughter of the late Frank and Gertrude (Copp) Bowser of Point de Bute.
Hester lived most of her life in Sackville, N.B. where she taught elementary school for many years. She adored her students and loved teaching them. She had a strong commitment and deep love for her friends and family, particularly her children. If ever there was an angel on this earth, it was Hester – there was no one who ever met her who did not think she was very, very special. She was an inspiration to her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters Judy (Hub) Williston of Amherst and Sharon (Gary) Goodwin of Leamington, and her son Ralph (Krista) of London, Ontario. She has many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Roland Everet Allen; her dear son Courtney Frank Allen (North Bay, Ont.); sisters Elsie Wheaton, Sackville, N.B. and Laura Wheaton, New Minas, N.S.; and one brother, Earl Bowser of Point de Bute, N.B.
Cremation has taken place under the care of Campbell’s Funeral Home in Amherst (902-667-9906).
