<div itemprop="description">The death of MaryEvelyn Jackson age 88, occurred Thursday, September 5, 2013 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst, surrounded by her loving family. <br /> <br />She was born in 1924 in Amherst, Nova Scotia and was a lifelong resident. <br /> <br />MaryEvelyn was the daughter of the late Fredrick Arnold and Beatrice Helena (Laws) Cochrane. <br /> <br />Upon completion of her education in the Amherst Schools, she worked for a few years at Canada Car and Robb Engineering Ltd. MaryEvelyn graduated as a registered nurse from Victoria General Hospital School of Nursing and from 1949 to 1952 she worked for the V.O.N, in Amherst. <br /> <br />She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Amherst, NS. MaryEvelyn&rsquo;s interest in young people was evident by her involvement in various church groups, including C.G.I.T., Sunday school and several church boards. <br /> <br />MaryEvelyn will be sadly missed by her two sons Peter (Lisa Belliveau) and Gordon (Sherrie Elliott); daughter Ruth (Raine) Lawrence; 12 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. <br /> <br />She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd P. Jackson; brother Frederick L. Cochrane; sister-in-laws Marjorie Cochrane and Margaret Ball. <br /> <br />Following cremation visitation will be held on Sunday, September 8, 2013, from 6 pm - 9 pm at Campbell&rsquo;s Funeral Home, 98 Church St, Amherst, 667-9906. <br /> <br />Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 9, 2013 at 2 pm, from First Baptist Church, Amherst, officiated by Rev. Byron Corkum. A family internment will take place in the Amherst Cemetery. <br /> <br />Donations may be made in MaryEvelyn&rsquo;s memory to the M.S.
