<div itemprop="description">Lambertus (Bert) van Vulpen passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 4, 2016 in East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash, NS. <br>He was born on March 7th, 1917 in Hoogeland, Netherlands, he was a son of the Johannes and Petronella (Boersen) van Vulpen. He served in the Dutch Army during the early stages of World War II. <br>Bert immigrated to Ontario, Canada in 1952, and from there, the family moved to Nova Scotia. He worked in the lumber and pulp industry, and in 1954 purchased a farm on the Gulf Shore. In 1964 he established a dairy farm at Nappan, NS. <br>He served many years as a director of Scotsburn Dairy. <br>Bert is survived by six children Wilhelmina (John Duykers) Antigonish, NS, Bert (Helen) Wentworth, NS.; Nellie (John van de Wiel) Pugwash, NS, Cornelia Bejcek Montreal, PQ, Christina (Rene) Cornu, Barrie, ON, Joe (Marlene) Amherst, NS, daughters in law Maria van Vulpen (John) Heukshorst Amherst, NS, Millie Burns (Henry) Yellowknife, NWT, 57 grandchildren and great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. <br>He was predeceased by his wife Christine (Smink) van Vulpen, sons John and Hank, son in law Manfred, brothers Hendrik, Hein and Frans (all in Netherslands) and John (Scotsburn, NS). <br>Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2016 from 2-4 and 7 – 9 p.m. with parish prayers at 8:30 p.m. all in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst, NS (902-667-9906). <br>Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Amherst with Father Keith Billard officiating. <br>Family flowers only. <br>Interment will take place in the spring in St. Charles Nativity Cemetery, Amherst. <br>Memorial donations in Bert’s memory may be made to a charity of individual choice or Saint Vincent de Paul Society. <br>Online condolences and sharing on memories may be made to the family via: www.campbellsamherst.ca or by visiting Campbell’s Facebook page. <br>The family would like to thank the staff of East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash and Dr. David Forshner for their kindness and wonderful care. <br></div>
