Loran Anderson
November 5, 1929 - March 21, 2016
Loran Edgar Anderson
November 5, 1929 – March 21, 2016
It is with heavy hearts that we say so-long to one of the best men whoever walked on this earth.
Born in Halifax, Loran (“Sonny”) was the fourth child and only son born to the late Henry P.( Northport ) and Hazel A. (Fader) (St. Margaret's Bay ) Anderson. He moved to Amherst at an early age and graduated from the Amherst Regional High School.
His first job after graduating was with Robb’s Engineering. He then moved on to Sifto Salt where he held several positions. He retired after forty years of service.
Loran worked as a volunteer with the United Way and the Amherst Y’s Men. He was very active at the “Y” where he helped to write their monthly newsletter. He and his wife were former long-time members of the RCAF Club.
Family always came first, and gardening was a passion for Loran even into his last summer.
Loran is survived by his wife, Florence (Terris). 2016 would have been their 66th wedding anniversary. He is also survived by his daughter Vicki (Steve) Burke, son, Robert (Alison Gillis), four granddaughters: Tara Burke, Melissa Anderson (Ryan Mitton), Maegan Anderson (Tyler Lannen-McLeod), and Michelle Anderson (Steph Irving), two grandsons Nicholas (Angela Mudge) and Matthew (Becky Cameron), four great grandsons: Ryder and Price Mitton, Brody Burke, and Nash Lannen-McLeod, and three sisters: Beryl (Ottawa), Hazel (Bridegwater), and Gwen (Lower Sackville), as well as many nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to Dr. J. Bobadilla, Dr. K. Short, Amy Thursten, Palliative Care Nurse, the caring nurses in the Ambulatory Care Unit, and the VON nurses who provided wonderful care while Loran was at home. Your care and kindness will always be remembered. Special thanks to Linda Duguay for her assistance in getting Loran to and from the hospital.
Cremation has taken place under the supervision of Campbell’s Funeral home. Per Loran’s wishes, there will be no service and internment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, the VON, or the Red Cross.
Sadly Missed And Never Forgotten
Online condolences and sharing of memories may be made to the family via: www.campbellsamherst.ca or by visiting Campbell’s Facebook page.
