<div itemprop="description">It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, sister and grandmother, Marcella Mary O&rsquo;Connor (Rooney), age 86 of Amherst on Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan surrounded by her loving family. <br /> Born November 27, 1926 in Douglastown, Quebec, she was a daughter of the late Rupert and Evelyne (Kennedy) Rooney. <br /> Marcella loved life to the fullest, especially spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed walking, listening to various types of music, reading, knitting and playing cards with her family and friends. She was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan, and a member of the Knights of Columbus and Thursday Morning Coffee bowling Leagues. <br /> Marcella was an active member of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Amherst. <br /> Her quiet, kind and gentle manner will be cherished by all who knew her. <br /> Marcella will be lovingly remembered by her son, Michael (Philomene) O&rsquo;Connor, Springhill; daughter, Evlynn (Geoff) McAloney, Amherst; beloved grandchildren, Ethan, Thane, and Zoe; sisters, Fabiola Rooney, Douglastown, QC, Corinne Rooney, Montreal, QC and Ernestine Kirouac, Dorval, QC; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family. <br /> Besides her parents, Marcella was predeceased by her husband, Bert; sister, Jacqueline LaRose; and brother, Armand Rooney. <br /> Her remains are resting in Campbell&rsquo;s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) with visitation on Sunday, February 3, 2013 from 7-9 p.m. with parish prayers at 8:30 p.m. <br /> Funeral service will be celebrated on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. from Holy Family Roman Catholic Church with Father Vernon Driscoll officiating. Reception will follow in the parish hall. Interment will take place in the spring in the St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery. <br /> Memorial donations in Marcella&rsquo;s memory may be made to St. Vincent de Paul or charity of your choice. <br /> Online condolences and sharing of memories may be done via: www.campbellsamherst.ca <br /> </div>
