<div itemprop="description">It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Phyllis Olive Hurley age 81, formally of Maccan, on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at East Cumberland Lodge, Pugwash, surrounded by her loving family.<br /><br />Phyllis was born April 3, 1935 in Amherst. She was a daughter of the late Maddie and Alice (MacKay) Landry.<br /><br />Phyllis was a devoted military wife, who moved with her husband and children to many parts of the country. She was a caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother who always enjoyed being surrounded by her family. Phyllis was an excellent quilter and seamstress, and was avid crafter who especially enjoyed knitting. Many of her projects were donated to various organizations in Amherst and Maccan.<br /><br />Phyllis is survived by her husband of 61 years, Gardner &ldquo;Bud&rdquo; Hurley of Maccan; Sons: Daniel (Trudy) of Trenton, NS, Terrance of Amherst and Robert of Maccan; Daughters: Deborah (Ricky) Emslie of Maccan and Catherine (Dara) Collins of Amherst; grandchildren Candy, Jessica, Christopher, Lacee, Heather, Chelsey, Dayne and Megan; great grandchildren Allie, Brooke Lyn, Erica, Emily, Cohen and Fionn; brother James Landry.<br /><br />Phyllis was predeceased by her sisters, Jean, Dot, and Rita.<br /><br />As per Phyllis&rsquo;s wishes, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Campbell&rsquo;s Funeral Home, Amherst, 902-667-9906.<br /><br />A graveside service will be held Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Maccan United Cemetery.<br /><br />In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer&rsquo;s Society, Cumberland Regional Health Care Foundation or to a charity of your choice.<br /><br />Condolences and sharing of memories may be made to the family via: www.campbellsamherst.ca or by visiting the Funeral Home Facebook page.<br /><br /></div>
