<div itemprop="description">The death of Raoul John Estabrooks age 78 of Amherst occurred on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre in Upper Nappan. <br /> <br />A gentle man, Raoul was born in Amherst and was a son of the late Stanley and Jean (Matheson) Estabrooks. <br /> <br />Educated in Amherst, he was employed with Nova Scotia Power Corporation for 24 years. For many years thereafter he was self-employed. <br /> <br />In the early years he loved fishing and hunting, but mostly just being in the woods. <br /> <br />Raoul will be profoundly missed by his devoted wife, Lola (nee Allen) of 35 year. He leaves behind two sons, Michael (Gaylene) and Scott (Colleen) both of Calgary, AB, and one daughter, Nancy (Tim) LeBlanc, Amherst; beloved grandchildren, Daniel, Lauren, Katey LeBlanc and , Cody, Brittany Estabrooks; brothers, Dean (Sharon), Dartmouth, NS, Guy (Jackie), David (Ann) both of Amherst; sisters, Keith Cormier and Donna Estabrooks both of Amherst; several nieces, nephews and extended family. <br /> <br />Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Jean Cormier; brother, Stan; sisters, Muriel Wells and Catherine Davidson. <br /> <br />Cremation has taken place. <br /> <br />A celebration of Raoul&rsquo;s life will be celebrated on Friday, December 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. from Campbell&rsquo;s Funeral Home Chapel, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating. Reception to follow in the funeral home. Interment will take place in the spring in the St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery. <br /> <br />In lieu of flowers, donations in Raoul&rsquo;s memory may be made to the Parkinson&rsquo;s Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice. <br /> <br />Online condolences and sharing of memories may be forwarded via: www.campbellsamherst.ca <br /> <br /></div>
