We mourn the sudden passing of
Winifred Dorothy (Pryor) Helpard
on September15th,2015 in Kelow-
na, B.C., with family by her side.
Born in Manchester, England on
December 9th,1921and immigrat-
ed to Canada in1927 through Pier
21.She was a daughter of the late
Richard and Winifred Pryor(Truro).
She lived with her husband in Am-
herst, Liverpool,Shelburne and,on
his death, settled in Bridgewater,
where she spent many years as a
teacher at the Nova Scotia Commu-
nity College [LRVS]from where she
retired in 1988. She moved to
Kelowna and, for over 23 years,
shared home time in Donna ,Tex.
She curled, golfed, hiked, volun-
teered with Hosts program and was
always open to new adventures
wherever they led. As a Winter
Texan,she enjoyed so many friend-
ships and good times with
Arlene and Harold,John Mc Clellan,
Jan and John, Wayne and Carole
and so many others.Predecessed by
her husband , Vincent; son,
Christopher; son-in-law, Herbert
Smith; brothers, Len, Harry, Dick,
Ted, Roger and sister Patsy. She is
survived by brother, Bobby; sisters-
in - law , Patricia and Christine,
Truro; many nieces and nephews,
including Jane Pryor and Becky
White, Dartmouth. She passed on
her love of life to her son, Dick,Aus-
tin, Tex; daughters, Brenda Smith,
Orleans, Ont.;Greer Robbins (Buzz
Wolfe), Baker Settlement; Deby
Helpard, Kelowna,B.C. She was so
proud of her grandsons, Andrew,
Trevor and Aron and great-grand-
children, Taryn, Kian and Darcy.A
graveside Celebration of Life will be
held Saturday, October 17th at 2
p.m. in Anglican Church Cemetery,
Amherst, Donations to charity of
choice.
