Alice Casey
October 26, 1917 - December 10, 2015
Alice Joyce Casey 1917 to 2015
Alice Casey, 98 passed away peacefully on Dec.10th 2015 at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre.
Born in Beaver Harbour N.S. She was the daughter of the late William and Blanche (Ring) Whitman. Alice married Elwin Casey and they moved to Amherst early in their marriage in 1939.
Alice helped Elwin in his business, E.L. Casey Construction, writing out by hand, bills and "keeping the books". Alice was a good cook, dinner was at noon and there was always dessert. There were often family members or friends dropping in at dinner time and they were always invited to stay. Alice pickled, jammed and preserved anything and everything she could get into a bottle! Her bread and rolls, pies and cakes, were the best!
Alice was a member of Trinity St.Stephen's United Church, also a member of the IODE and a volunteer at the "New to You" shop.
Alice was a resident of The Centennial Villa for over 16 years where many of the staff were like family to her.
Alice was first a wife and mother being married to Elwin for almost 50 years and brining up her children Earl and Sandra. She adored her grandsons who she loved to bake for.
Alice is survived by son Earl ( Eleanor), Grandsons Steven (Michelle), Bruce (Natalie) and Peter ( Emily), Great Grandchildren Will, Elle, Charlotte and Eli, daughter Sandra (Robinson),sister Winifred Thompson, brothers in law Claude Casey and Don (Betty) Casey and sisters in laws Dorie Casey, Jean Mitchell, Sheila Thompson, Margaret MacIntosh, Eleanor Casey and Marie Foye. Also Jennifer Furlong, Jeff MacMaster and Jonathan MacMaster who all called her Grammie. As well as many loving nieces and nephews.
Alice was predeceased by her husband Elwin, daughter Jill in infancy, brothers Floyd, Earnest, George, sisters Elva, Helen, Olie, Rose, and Doll.
